Breakfast Cereals
- ADMs premium De Zaan® cocoa powders and liquors add superb flavour to chocolate-coated cereals, and cocoa butter is used as a ‘barrier between the sprayed chocolate coating and the surface of the cereal. Cocoa powders are the key flavour and colour components in chocolate flavoured chips.
- From our UK milling operations we offer broad bran for breakfast cereals and mueslis.
- Arcon® soya concentrate may be added to muesli to boost the protein content and Pro-Fam® isolated soya proteins can be extruded to make nutritious cereal products.
Jams, Jellies & Preserves
The key to successful products is pH adjustment and flavour; rely on citric acid and sodium citrate from ADM to give the desired results.

Margarine and Spreads
- ADMs European operations process soybeans, rapeseed and sunflower seed to yield a range of refined oils. In addition to the basic oils we offer custom blends of vegetable oils and fats including where appropriate palm, palm kernel and coconut oils. There is increasing interest in our low-trans fatty acids blends for spreads.
- Also from our oilseed processing we produce phytosterols, which as part of an appropriate diet, have been demonstrated to reduce blood cholesterol levels. Now ADM has Novel Foods approval in the EU for the use of its sterol and sterol ester products in yellow fat spreads.
- Decanox™ mixed tocopherols are very effective fat-soluble antioxidants for delaying or preventing the onset of rancidity in margarine and low-fat spreads.
- The emulsifier lecithin is an essential ingredient in margarines and many spreads.
Savoury Snacks
- ADM offers a range of standard and customized vegetable oils and fats, including zero- and low-trans fatty acid options, for snack food cooking and frying.
- For a wide variety of snack products citric acid is added for flavour and, in conjunction with sodium citrate, it will adjust pH.
- Where an emulsifier is needed, natural lecithins are effective and additionally aid processing.
Surimi
Sorbitol solution is an efficient humectant, and sequestering and emulsifying agent in fish and surimi products.
Pro-Fam® isolated soya proteins and Arcon® functional soya protein concentrates have proved valuable in extending the limited surimi supply.
