The UK’s Joint Health Claims Initiative (JHCI)
allows an on-pack claim, which states that “The
inclusion of at least 25g soya protein per day as part of a diet low in saturated fat can help to reduce blood cholesterol”. This is similar to the US FDA’s approved health-benefit claim. We offer a full range of soya protein ingredients, with protein concentrations from 40% to 90%, in powders, flakes and even grits.
- In addition to protein, soya is also high in isoflavones. Studies suggest that isoflavones may help to preserve bone health and maintain a healthy heart. ADM’s Novasoy® soya isoflavone concentrates are the leading isoflavone brand in the world.
- Another exciting ADM ingredient is phytosterols, which have proven safety and efficacy in helping to block the absorption of cholesterol. Phytosterols can be incorporated into salad dressings, beverages, spreads and yogurts and healthy bars, subject to local regulations.
- Within the EU, ADM has been granted Novel Foods approval for its phytosterol products in a specified range of food categories, which includes milk and soya beverages, fermented milk and soya products, yellow fat spreads, single-serving portion salad dressings and mayonnaises, and cheese types.
