Research with lactating dairy cattle at our Ruminant Intensive Research Unit provides intensive testing of rumen characteristics and nutrient digestion. We also conduct nutrient balance studies designed to evaluate environmentally friendly feeding programs.
We utilize a batch-culture in-vitro fermentation system to assess ruminal digestion of carbohydrates, protein and amino acids. The rate and extent of protein and carbohydrate fermentation are measured using an in-vitro gas production system. Studies using in-situ incubation of forages, concentrates and protein ingredients are also conducted at our research facilities
Lactation research studies are conducted both at a contract dairy facility and at multiple field trial sites in major dairy production areas, all to get the most dependable results.
