Our swine scientists are equipped to handle nutrition, management, metabolic biochemistry, feed ingredient handling and processing and environmental management research to offer you the data you need for everything from breeding rations to finishing rations.
ADM’s breeding and gestation facility house sows that provide a steady supply of weanling pigs for nursery studies. Our state-of-the-art, high-rise farrowing facility is used to determine the effects of nutrition or management strategies on reproductive performance or on the subsequent performance of offspring.
Our swine nursery facility is specifically designed so sufficient treatment replication can detect changes in gain and conversion efficiency elicited by diet nutrient density or specific feed ingredients. Up to 45 nursery tests can be conducted annually. A modular nursery also allows for additional nutrition research using off-site early weaned pigs.
Swine grow/finish research facilities are used to conduct weight gain and feed conversion efficiency studies. Real-time ultrasound can be used to measure composition of gain.
Intensive swine studies can measure digestion and absorption of protein, energy and minerals. The metabolism of specific nutrients can be assessed with our on-site processing capabilities and a staff of trained technicians.
