About Patricia A. Woertz, New ADM CEO About Patricia A. Woertz, New ADM CEO Patricia A. Woertz has been appointed President, Chief Executive Officer and member of the Board of Directors of Archer Daniels Midland Company. Joining ADM on May 1, 2006, Patricia will be focused on extending the Company’s strong financial momentum, accelerating the growth of its core businesses and enhancing the Company’s mission to be “resourceful by nature.”

Pat most recently served as Executive Vice President of Chevron Corporation, one of the largest energy companies in the world, where she led the company’s global “downstream” operations, including refining, marketing, lubricant, and supply and trading businesses--with more than $100 billion in annual revenues, spanning 180 countries on six continents, with a global workforce of 30,000 employees.

Career History
Pat’s career history has given her a diverse background and breadth of experience. A graduate of Pennsylvania State University, with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting, she began her career with Ernst & Young in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania as a certified public accountant. Attracted to the complexity and opportunity of a global energy company, she joined Gulf Oil Corporation in 1977 and held positions in refining, marketing, strategic planning and finance.

Following the merger of Gulf and Chevron in 1987, Pat led organizations in Finance, Information Technology, Strategic Planning, and Refining and Marketing. She gained experience in leading international operations and a global workforce as President of Chevron Canada and later Chevron International Oil Company. She was named Executive Vice President of Global Downstream upon the merger of Chevron and Texaco in 2001.

Recent Leadership Accomplishments
In 2003, Pat launched a business transformation that turned seven independent businesses--collectively performing at the bottom of the pack--into an integrated, streamlined and competitive global enterprise. That same year, she set an ambitious two-year goal to deliver more than $500 million in before-tax business improvements, and she achieved that goal one year ahead of schedule.

Her efforts, and her personal passion, have also focused on the well being of employees. When her organization began to show poor safety performance in some locations, Pat championed a global, cultural movement to raise awareness, change behavior and make safety a personal value for all workers. In less than two years, injuries were reduced by close to 70%, and severe injuries were reduced by 80%; the organization achieved “world-class” safety results, and the well being of all workers became a personal and passionate value adopted throughout the organization.

Pat is an internationally recognized business leader, working frequently with government officials, heads of state, business partners and community stakeholders across the globe. Since 2000, Fortune magazine has named Pat one of the top ten most powerful women in business.

An advocate of life-long learning, Pat is a graduate of Columbia University’s International Executive Development Program. She serves on the Board of Trustees of the University of San Diego and the Board of Visitors of Pennsylvania State University, which recently awarded her its highest recognition for alumni.
