Ethanol
For the past several years ADM has been a primary source of industrial fermentation ethanol, through a joint venture known as World Ethanol between ADM and Dow Chemical Company’s Union Carbide Corporation (UCC). Effective January 1, 2005, ADM acquired all the ethanol assets as Dow withdrew from the ethanol market. ADM has the size, the extended product line-up, the expertise and the dedication you expect from a world-class supplier.

The ethanol product line includes pure and specially denatured ethanol products, as well as, completely denatured ethanol and Plant Mixtures for the industrial solvent applications.

Solvents
ADM is also a leading producer of ethyl lactate, the modern replacement for chlorinated solvents. Ethyl lactate is a solvent that effectively softens plastics to allow their easy removal from a surface. Yet it is renewable and biodegradable, breaking down into lactic acid and ethanol. For all these reasons, it is quickly becoming the solvent of choice in a range of industrial applications, from paint stripping to electronics cleaning.
Chemical Intermediates
As an adjunct to ADM's core business of processing corn and other commodities, we produce a dependable supply of co-products widely used as chemical intermediates, which are used in the production of ethyl acrylate, vinegar, ethylamines, glycol esters and ethyl acetate. ADM also supplies the citrates that provide an environmentally responsible substitute for phosphates in a large variety of household cleaning products.
